I believe this picture best represents imperialism. This picture shows England and its ties to a bunch of countries. England in the main country and then all the islands/countries he has his hands on are most likely a aid or treaty. Then there are 2 countries that the octopus has under his arms and those are most likely alliances. It also shows how England has control/wants control over all these people. England also has his hands on a bunch of countries, so he is trying to extend his power to other countries so they join him.

There are many differences between aids, treaty, and alliaces. The only obvious similarity is they are all helping a country they have agreed to help. An aid is a country that wont go to war for you but they will supply you with food or weapons if you are in need. Thats the lowest level, the middle level is treaty. A treaty is an agreement between two countries that is written down, its kinda like a contract saying you will stand by the country. the highest level is alliance, an alliance is a country willing to go to war for another country, its like a pact.
What surprised me the most through out learning about the islands, is that so many people where discriminated against. Like the native americans and chinese. I thought all you had to do was pass the tests, but if you where of a certain culture. They would still do all the tests, but your experience would not be fun. Also their living conditions where not so great. It was almost like being in prision. Their beds where made of metal and on a wall. They stuffed a lot of people in a room, so it was very uncomfortable. Something more I would like to know is like when did people start and stop coming to america? Like why did people stop coming, and where do they go now if they want to come? I found out that Ellis island was on the east side and Angel island was on the west. I never really heard much of Angel island until now, it was always Ellis island. I wonder why that is?
Economics is how people choose to use resources and the ways in which governments, businesses, societies, and individuals distribute and consume human capital, physical capital, and natural resources.
Economics is important in my family because i have been able to-do a lot because both of my parents work. My mom is the boss of her travelers insurance company, and my dad has his on business. I have been on 7 cruises and to a lot of states. I am very grateful for this. Traveling really has played a big role in my life, because it made me realize i'm very fortunate. i'm only 14 and have been on more vacations then my parents ever went on as a child. Traveling is an amazing thing to-do because it opens you up to so mant new things. Being a twin also played a role in economics. When i was born, my parents have had to but everything x2. we have never really struggled with that, but i know it sometimes takes a toll on my parents, and they get a little stressed out. Cheer also takes a role in my economics. My parents have to pay a lot for me to cheer. They pay about $5,000 a year for me to cheer. i'm so thankful that i'm able to-do it. Cheer has changed me a lot into who i am. When we first signed up for it i was a little scared that my parents would struggle, but they haven't. If i didn't do cheer i wouldn't do anything, and have a lot of free time. In 2010 we where fortunate enough to be able to buy a lake house. We bought it to be able to spend more time with our family. I have become closer with my family, and have made a lot of amazing memories there. I am so greatful to be able to have live there. I go there for all the holidays, and i used to go every weekend but cheer has kinda prevented that from happening. Over all economics have played a big role in my life, because i have been able to do a a lot, and it makes me grateful. And not greedy. there are things i want, but i know how much my parents sacrafice so i can have a good life. 1.Where did your family come from?
Germany 2.Do we speak our native lands languages? No 3. How many generations have we been in america? three 4.Did you raise me different then you where raised? Yes, I have a lot more things. 5.Did you always live in woodridge? No 6.Why did you choose Woodridge? It was where my moms work was moving, and had good education. 7.Do we have family in another country? No, not close family History is acquiring knowledge about significant events and individual developments over time.
One thing that's really important in my history is cheer leading. I started it in 2nd grade at the park district. I did that for a year, but it was more like dance. I picked cheer back up in 5th grade at the Panthers, a rec cheer team. That was more about cheer leading. I did that until this year when i started Dupage Cheer All-stars. This was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made. I also did Jefferson cheer for 7th and 8th grade year. Cheer has really made me who I am today. Panther cheer really made me think "always finish everything." There where many times through out panthers i wanted to quit, because my coaches where mean and no one bonded. It just want fun anymore. I stayed with it for my last year and we ended up wining state. Jefferson cheer really taught me to be confident. I really didn't think i would make it but i tried hard and stayed positive. DCA really taught me to make a team your 2nd family. Cheer has really made me who i am today. Another thing that has really shaped me into who i am today my familys history with having twins. I myself am a twin and it had really played a impact on my life. It taught me anythings like; sharing, equality, and many more things. Its hard to explain how it impacts me because that's just how it is. I do everything wither her. I love having a twin because there is always someone there for me. There are many other things that play an impact in my history, here are just a few. Welcome to 7th period social studies with Alexis. Im blogging for Mrs.Gremillions social studies.
