My family history is pretty simple. My whole family is originated from Lithuania in Europe. But recently I have learned that my great grandmother was born in Russia and when she was married in her early thirties she moved to Lithuania. Both her parents and her husband were part Russian. (But her husband was mainly Lithuanian he grew up there but his family moved to Russia.) So that means my mom has some Russian in her I guess that means I am part Russian as well. I never knew that, I thought I was 100 percent Lithuanian but I just learned that was not true. My grandmother told me the story of how my great grandmother traveled to Lithuania. They were very very poor so they could not afford any type of transpertation so she and her husband decided that they would travel on foot to Lithuania.Since they were poor they couldn't afford a place of there own so they moved in with her husbands sister. They decided to go to Lithuania because they were expecting a baby and they wanted to have the child where her husband was originally from so they took the long journey to Lithuania by foot. That is mainly all I know about any other part that my family has originated from. This story falls under the category of not only history but also geography because, this is all about moving so that goes under geography but it all happened in the past and it affected where we all started out our lives. That makes it the history of my family origin.
I was born in Klaipeda, Lithuania. I live with my grandma, parents, and sister. While I was two years old we moved to Chicago. Then when I was three we moved to Woodridge. When I was seven I got my first dog. That was when my obsession with dogs kicked in. When I was ten my mom let me start volunteering in the animal shelter every sunday. To this day I go to the shelter every sunday. It is a very big part in my life. When I was nine my dog had four puppies, we sold two and kept two. Now I have five dogs in my house. It gets really chaotic. That is where my main interests are, in spending time with animals.
-Why did we move to the US?
They won a green card. -Has anyone in our family served in the military? No -Where did you meet mom/dad? A mutual friend set them up -How did we end up in Illinois? My uncle came to live in Chicago before us. -How many people in our family go to college? 9 people that they know about. -What was the first job they worked at? My mom had a Chinese restaurant and my dad was a police officer in Lithuania. -Am I part of any different cultures? No -What traditions do we still do that are from my home country. We still celebrate kucios that is the same time as Christmas eve. We only get to eat fish no meat all day. -Did anyone in my family go to college? My mom, dad, both sisters, grandma, grandpa, and my other grandma, my other grandpa, and my uncle. -How were living conditions when/ where I grew up/ where i\I was born? We lived in an apartment that we owned. We are and were middle class. -Why am I tall? My mom and dad are both really tall. -Did everyone in our family keep our traditions? yes. Civics is not a huge part in my life but there still is some in my everyday life. In school I go to school games to support the teams that play. Other than going to school games I do not really do that much after school in the school. My civic activities revolve around out of school. My main civic activity is volunteering at the animal shelter and the animal hospital. Every Sunday after church in Lemont my mom and I go to the animal shelters to walk, feed, and play with the dogs try to make them feel loved. That is probably why I love animals sooo much.I also volunteer at the oakbrook mall. I go there every other week. I always make big donations there (that's the shopping I do there). I also am forced to go to Lithuanian school. It can get really hard and annoying partially because my parents force me to go.
