Today, I will be telling you about the sub culture Teeny Bopper! What is a sub culture? A sub culture is a a culture or group withing another culture. The sub culture I choose was Teeny Bopper, and a Teeny Bopper is a young teenage girls that follow trends in music, fashion, and culture. I choose Teeny Bopper to do research on, because I thought I could relate to it. Also, it's a term I have heard before, and I am familiar with it. An a historical example could be teen girls in the 1950's who listened to Elvis and wore Poodle skirts. Teeny Boppers where introduced around the 1950's. A modern day example, is girls today wear clothes from Pink, and listen to popular music like: Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift. Some famous people who we consider Teeny Boppers are, Maddie Ziegler from the reality show Dance Moms.
When we learned about immigration in class there was a lot of things that surprised me but what stood out was how healthy you had to be to be accepted. To be able to immigrate you had to pass a bunch of different health test and the slightest thing wrong would mean you were not able to go. My classed learned about Ellis and Angel island immigrants and what it took to go and their conditions. Something more I wanted to learn about was how others around the immigrants treated them like people helping the immigrants and testing them etc.. I found out about how hard it was to be and immigrant and why they decided to immigrate.
Also if you would like to discover more about immigration with Angel Island heres a link to Li Keng Wong’s story. http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/asian-american/angel_island/chapter1.htm History is the study of past events, particularly human affairs. History has had an impact on my life like the year I was born and what was popular at that time.
I was born on July 19th, 2001, so i'm 13 years old. I went to Preschool in 2005. I went to the same elementary school Kindergarten to Sixth grade. I also went to a Junior High my junior high was 2 years only. Some of the friends I hung out with at my elementary school i'm still friends with today. We do a lot of fun things like annual fondue parties, Ugly sweater contest, and always getting together on Halloween. I have never moved I have lived at the same house all my life so far, but before I was born my family live in an apartment. In 2001 my family got a collie we named sunny, but we already had collie name ginger. Also in 2007 we got a Chihuahua named Gizmo. In 2009 I was very upset when Ginger passed away. Lastly in 2010 we got Daisy who is also a Chihuahua. In 2008 my Grandpa passed away which was very upsetting for my whole family, because we where very close. This was the first time I had experience someone passed away. History has made an impact on my life about all the things I have gone through and done, all my experiences that I have gone through my life. For example when I started a love for dogs. I will be blogging about my identity and the first thing I did was ask my parents some questions, but getting all the answers is tough because my mother was adopted so I don't have blood relatives on her side, or information.
The first question was what hobbies did I have with my mom and she told me how she played Violin in the Pitt of musicals although I prefer to bee on the stage like I have in "Hairspray" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie"but, we both share a love in music. The second question was what hospital was I born in? I was born at Edwards Hospital In Hinds dale, Illinois. The Third question is What is my heritage? I have multiply heritages I am Scottish, Dutch, French and part Native American Indian. The fourth question is what was my mothers first job? My Mothers first job was babysitting for family’s in town at the age of 11-12, but her first real pay job was McDonald's for about a year or year in a half but didn't enjoy the job. The fifth question is Did everyone in our family keep our religion, traditions, and values? On my mothers side we did we all are Lutheran, and my uncle and aunt are both Lutheran pastors. The sixth question is In the olden days, like 1300s, did any of our ancestors get to be kings or queens? No but on my father side we have are own plaid and coat of arms. The seventh question is did I get my talent/s from my dad’s side or my mom’s side? I received my talents from Mostly my mothers side of the family we have many talents in common. Those are a couple questions and answers that tell about my identity who I am and will be finding more out as this unit in my social studies class goes on. What is civics? Civics is the study of rights and duties of citizenship. Civics has to do with things like schools, choices, activities, and many more. All my life I lived in the same area and went to preschool, the I went to kindergarten and 1st to 6th grade at the same Elementary school. I live close to my old elementary school and have been enrolled at that school for 7 years. So I am familiar with all the teachers and rooms and I still go to the parks by it. I learned a lot of information over the years at elementary like how to read and write, multiplication, division, subtraction, addition, and a lot of other things. I also made a lot of friends who I am still friends with today, going to this school taught me a lot of life lessons like how to work in a group and share with others, it also prepared me for junior high. Junior high is a lot of fun, i have made so many new friends and have seen so many different personality's pf people. It also was a lot of hard work too. Junior high also gave me more opportunities to do, like the musical. Both years of junior high I did the musical, the first one was Thoroughly Modern Millie, and the second one was Hairspray which I played Prudy PIngelton. I also did Girls Scouts witch introduced me to a bunch of new friends and I got to go on camp outs and build fires etc.. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Another thing I did was Indian Princesses a parent and child organization. In this program I met a whole new group of friends and mad me closer with some that went to our school, also I still know most of them still today. Civics has had a huge impact on my life by who I hang out with and some of my human capital. Also some of the things I enjoyed like I would have never went camping in cabins if it weren't for Indian Princesses. Hi, I'm going to be blogging for my social studies class.
