My family coming from all over the world all of there journeys were different I don't know specific story's about my family's journeys but alot of the cam over here in the great depression so coming during that might have been hard in the beginning but after settling in the had good life's obviously since most of them had about 1-8 kids. This relates to me because during my life we had a big drop in the economy kinda like the great depression people were struggling and now everybody is getting settled back in and think about how many people have had kids in the past 2 years. This relates to the History/Economics lens because I talk about money being short and people struggling and I talk about history to.
My moms side lived in Downers Grove my mom lived in downers grove her whole life she went to Highland Elementary School, Herrick Middle School and Downers Grove North High School she graduated in 2000. My grandma went to the same schools and she graduated in. My grandpa also went to Downers Grove North High School and that how they met. My dads side of the family all lived 5 minutes from the city my grandpas family lived in Lyons and my grandmas family lived in Berwyn. My dad went to Lincoln Elementary and it was a k-8th grade school and then he went to Morton West High School and he graduated in 1994 then both of his sisters went to the same schools and his middle sister dawn graduated in 1998 and his youngest sister graduated in 2004. My grandma went to Morton West High School and graduated in 1971 and my grandpa also went to moron and graduated 1969. I will go to Downer Grove North and graduate in 2019 and my brother will graduate in 2027
On my moms side of the family my great-grandpa Ross served in the navy in world war ll I did get to meet him he died in April of 2008 i was about 7-8 when he passed my great-grandma Ruth got the flag from the war and she gave it to my mom cause she knew she wasn't gonna be around much longer so, in are living room we have the the flag in a case. On my dads side of the family there was and is a lot of people in the military my grandpas Uncle's George and Henry Bathon were in world war l. Also, his other Uncle's Joesph and Sylvester Zellinski were in the Korean war. My Great-Uncle Jerry Schnelle was in the Navy in world war ll and he is in his late 70's. My Great-Uncle Francis was in the air-force of world war ll to he died June of 2013 he was in his middle 60's. My 2nd cousin Zachary Schnelle is in the marines and he has been there for 2 years and is getting deployed in a couple of weeks.
So, from my dads side of the family on my grandmas side of the family out of my great-great grandparents only on of them immigrated from another country my great-great grandpa did who's name was Anton and he came over from Germany when he was 6 years old. Now from my dads side of the family on my grandpas side only one of my great-great grandparents was an immigrant which was also my great-great grandpa who's name was Joseph he came over from Poland-Germany and on his birth certificate it said Poland-Germany cause nobody wanted to say they were from Germany cause of Hitler and the Nazi's and he was 5 years old when he came to America.
On my dads side of the family on my grandmas side her moms side my great-great grandma had 3 kids and there names Laverne, Emil and Lydia. Then on my grandmas side of her dads side they only had one kid Frank. Now, my grandmas family all lived in the city so they didn't have very many kids cause they didn't need very many kids but on my grandpas side they all lived in Southern Illinois and they all lived on the farm that we still own today but, my grandpa moms parents had 8 kids cause they needed help on the farm so they needed a lot of kids then those kids had kids which is my great-grandmas brothers and sisters and there was 6 kids total and they lived on the other farm and they needed help on the farm to so they had a lot of kids. They moved here cause it was the land of opportunity they came here cause they needed a job and there was jobs here for them for both of my great-great grandparents one moved here from Poland and one moved here from Germany.
My family is a a mutt! Putting it in dog form. My dads side of the family is German, Bohemian and Irish, but mostly German. My moms side of the family is polish, Russian, Sue Indian, English and Irish .On my moms side of the family my great-grandpas dad is 100% Russian and my great-great grandma is 100% Polish and they met and they moved to America in the early 30's. My great-great grandma ashley that is Sue Indian came here from Canada and moved to New York and i have a ton of family in upper state New York. My great-great grandparents on my dads side of the family came over from Germany for the same reason to start a new life. The little bit of bohemian and Irish I'm not really sure who is from there or if they came to America, but i would love to know.
