I believe that this picture best illustrates Militarism, One of the main causes of WWI. The definition of Militarism is - A government or people's desires or belief that their country's military should maintain a strong military capability and should be prepared and always ready to use it aggressively should they have to defend or promote. This photo clearly shows militarism. One way this photo shows militarism is the fact that the magazine cover is showing a soldier that is very well equipped. He has a poison tank which could be useful in a battle. A mask, which can protect him from the poison tank, and contain his identity. He also has a gun. This magazine is showing a model soldier, and what one should look like. This is why I believe this picture represents militarism.
Part 1 -
What is the difference between aid, a treaty, and an alliance? ( an aid, treaty, and alliance all have to do with forming a bond with another country during war. The bond with an aid is just supply of materials, the bond with a treaty is an agreement not to go into battle unless needed, and the bond with the alliance is helping one another out during a battle.) AID: When a country has an aid relationship with another country, the countries will provide help, support, or assistance in economic or non-economic problems in war. For example if a country needs supplies such as food, water, or bandages their aid country would supply them with the materials if they had them. TREATY: When a country has a treaty with another country they have declared peace with one another. For example if two or more countries have a treaty. They will not battle each other unless needed. ALLIANCE: When a country has an alliance with one another, they have a formal agreement that they will help each other out in battle against other countries. For example if a country wants to battle an allied country, the allied country with have its alliance help their country in the battle. Part 2 - Why isn't the U.S. part of this diagram? Does the U.S. Become part of this diagram at some point? When? Why do they join? If you don't know already, WWI began July 28th, 1914. Alliances, treaties, and aids were immediately formed. Although, The U.S didn't join the war until April 6th, 1917. Therefore the U.S. Most likely wasn't even apart of the war when this diagram was made. The U.S. Does become apart of the diagram at some point since when the U.S. joined the war they formed an alliance with Britain, France, And Russia. The U.S Joined WWI because of mainly disagreements in Europe over boundaries and other issues. Thank you for reading about my Subculture, Teeny Boppers! :)
One thing that surprised me the most about learning about Ellis Island is that they had to go through such brutal medical examinations! I was really surprised to find out that such a vast number of people were sent back due to such the tiniest things. I do not believe that anyone in my family has gone through Ellis Island, although that's something I should definitely further my knowledge upon. This falls upon the Geography lens. Since it it talking about location, migration, culture, travel, and boundaries. This relates to me because I moved from Chicago to the suburbs when I was very little.
Economics has always been a huge part of my family, and myself. My family is known for always planning ahead, and setting goals for ourselves. I, myself am pretty good at finding ways to make money, whether it's chores, making meaningless bets, or even just selling things. I always find a way to make money. Right now I am only 13 years old, so I am not legally old enough yet to get a job, and this annoys me so much. I like the feeling of being able to make my own money instead of having to constantly have to ask my parents. I believe I got this trait from my father. As a child my father was an expert on saving money and preparing for his future, thing ahead... etc. My father had become an entrepreneur at age 12! He would sell homemade freeze-pops outside his house for a quarter every summer, and cut grass until he was old enough to get a job. Although what was different about my father as a kid was that he didn't spend his money on small toys, and candy. Instead he kept it all under his mattress until he was old enough to have a bank account. Once he finally open an account he was already well into his thousands in savings! That is why my father has always pushed me into preparing about my future, and not just thinking about what I want now. Because of this I am a VERY competitive person. Whenever my school would have a fundraiser at elementary school they always had it so the class with the most money would get some sort of prize. I was that one kid that would go super OVERBOARD and collect hundreds of dollars in donations just to insure that she would win. I was that kid. Overall I am so incredibly grateful to have been fortunate enough to have a person in my life to ensure that I start thinking about my future at a young age so I can better myself as an adult. Now you know how Economics impacts me in my life and as a person. Thanks for reading! :)
Over Thanksgiving break I was asked to further m knowledge about my family, and personal history. I asked various family members questions involving the topic. Here are the answers...
Question 1: Was I A well Behaved Toddler? Was I easy to raise? Answer: (Father) "Kiara you were an interesting little baby. You acted perfect in public, But at home you were so mischievous! It was the funniest thing ever because you would never cry, or be mean in public. Although, when you were at home it was a different story. It wasn't that you would cry or throw tantrums, you barely ever did that. You would just be mischievous! You would Sneak out of bed at night and scare you big sister, you would try to beat me up, and pull your mother's hair. Once you even gave me a black eye with your Bottle! Although, I do admit you were a very sweet child, you always loved making new friends, and you always tried to cheer up others when they were sad. You were one of the best kids I could have asked for." Question 2: How do you think where we live now affects the person I am today? (Entire Family basically) As a whole my family pretty much said that Me now living in Bolingbrook as apposed to Chicago (Which is where my family used to live) has greatly impacted the person I am today. My Family *Mom, Dad, Sister, Me* All moved to Bolingbrook when I was just a baby, and my sister was in 4th grade. In Chicago my sister had been a "straight A" student. She was on the honor roll and was one of the smartest in her class. Although, when we moved to Bolingbrook She had been ranked as "Below her class" Which meant that she was not as developed *education wise* as the kids in her grade. Although it took much dedication and effort my sister soon once again made the honor roll. Im saying this to say that the Chicago Public schooling system is simply not as developed as the ones in Woodridge, So by us moving here I have always had great education! By default, I am a very proper person, I have not been exposed to the things I would've been exposed to in Chicago, Although I'm not saying that Woodridge or Bolingbrook is perfect, because everywhere has bad parts. What i'm saying is that the're is a less chance of me drifting off into bad surroundings living where I live now, as apposed to where my family used to live. So yes, Where my family lives now GREATLY affects the person I am today. Question 3: Did you raise me differently than how you were raised? (Mother) "I guess I could say that I did, and did not raise you differently than how my mother raised me. I believe that I did raise you similar to how my mother raised me because I installed in you the same morals, values, and traditions my mother installed into me. Such as your manners, how to dress your age, respect, responsibility, how to treat people, how to act... etc. Although, I raised you differently than how I was raised because I teach you all of the things I wish my mother had taught me. I give you responsibility, although I don't give you so much, till the point you almost lose your childhood. As a child I had to take care of my younger sister and brother everyday at an age as young as 8 while my mother worked. I had to feed them, dress, them, help with homework... etc. Although, this installed good discipline into me well being I also feel as though, me doing this cut my childhood short. I had to grow up to fast. So now that I'm a mother I try my best to remind you to stay a kid for as long as you can, because once you grow up you are going to wish to be a kid again. That is one thing i'm proud to do as a mother, that I wish my mother had done to me." Question 4: Where do I get my love for music? (Father and Mother) My father was and still is a Music Producer. He has a studio were clients come in and he records them, and somehow transforms it into a wonderful piece of music. My father has been in love with music ever since he was a child. He has meet famous singers and rappers, and even has had tracks that he produced become #1 on charts. This one is pretty self explanatory, I get my love of music from my father. Thank you for reading :) This is my First Blog, I'm testing it out. My Identity. (History)*As a class we listened to Mr. Wechman's and Mrs. Gremillion's Stories. While listening I tuned in for parts about their history. I applied their stories to mine. This is My history.*
My History Is part of what makes my identity. This post will be about my history, and how it has made me into the person I am today.
