Imperialism is a system where a powerful nation rules and exploits one or more colonies. In most cases the nation establishes control over new territory. This picture reflects imperialism because it shows how a big powerful country sneaks into smaller territory and slowly starts to take over. England was very powerful during the time of WW1 and this political cartoon makes England look like they are taking over by creeping into a weaker colony.
Having an aid means that you will give food/supplies to that country when they are in need. Having a treaty means that you have a formal agreement with a country. Having an alliance means that you are friends with that country and you would fight for/with them.
The United States isn't part of the diagram because we didn't join the war until 1917. This diagram is from the beginning of the war. The U.S. joined the war because they were helping the allies to much to be still consided "neutral A Youtuber is as video blogger also known as a "vlogger". They post their videos through Youtube to project their opinions and their thoughts. Their are different types of Youtubers.
Here are a few- Beauty Guru: A beauty guru is someone who makes beauty, hair, lifestyle, and tag videos. They also do fun challenges. Ex: Bethany Mota- Bethany Mota is a American 19 year-old who just hit 8 million subscribers. She has a clothing line at Aero. She just interviewed President Obama the other day about the Youtube Culture. Ex: Zoe Sugg: Zoe Sugg is a British 24 year-old who goes by the Youtube name Zoella. She just hit 7 million subscribers. She has her own book titled "Girl Online" which is a fiction novel. She also has beauty products in the UK's Superdrug stores. Funny/Random- There are a lot of Youtubers that just make funny/random videos. Ex: Caspar Lee: Caspar Lee is a England born, South African raised 21 year-old who makes random videos to entertain his viewers. My Great Great Auntie Erna flew from Germany to Ellis Island. She came by herself, and she was supposed to go to Florida, by her Aunt and Uncle. But because she didn't speak English she got lost; and somehow ended up in Chicago. The police had to direct her to Florida. She eventually went back to Chicago. She visits Florida every year. This has impacted my life because that's why I have family in Florida. This goes with my History Lens and my Geography Lens.
Economics- "How people choose to use resources and the ways in which governments, businesses, societies, and individuals distribute (give out) and consume (use) human capital, physical capital, and natural resources."
My Dad has always referred to my family as "high middle class" meaning that even though we're not rich, we have "extra" money to spare. My Dad's job has always been the one that payed the bills. He always had the same job. Until I was 11, my Mom was a stay-at-home mom. Then when I was in the 5th grade she got a small part-time job. That money is the "extra" money; its the money we spend at the mall on unnecessary things and stuff like that. Items we want more then need. My family has always been grateful that this money allows us to travel. I have been to Disney World 4 times, and this past summer my family and I went to Hawaii. I have also been to Florida in general, and Arizona to visit family. This shaped who I am today because I have seen other places besides Chicago. My Yaya lives in Indiana and the only places she's been is here and there. She never had enough money to see the world. This affects me because it makes me appreciate where I've been. That even something as simple as visiting family makes me thankful. 1.Who gave me my love of piano?
My Great-Grandma Gert; she used to play for hours while my Grandma knitted. The piano in my dining room was hers. She bought it after he husband died because she was lonely. It helped her pass the time. My Mom would call her during her lunch breaks to see if she needed any new music. 2.Do we speak any more languages beside German? My Yaya used to speak Greek. My Grandpa (on my other side) knows Spanish, he says he had to learn it when he was a Chicago police officer back in the day. 3.How does your looks affect who you are? I personally don't look any Greek. In the sun my hair looks red. That's because I inherited it for my Grandpa on my Dad's side. His nickname was Red. Even my Yaya called him that. 4.In the olden days, did any of our ancestors get to be kings or queens? No, but they were bakers for the Austria Royal Family. I wrote more about that in my Geography post. 5.How has are traditions changed from past generations? There's different main courses at Christmas, but most of the desserts are still old-school. I say that because of the Chicago Tribune Annual Cookie Contest. This year the first place winner was Erna Steinbrenner. She's my great great aunt. She makes her crescents every year for us. My mom makes them them too, but they're not the same. Geography- "Earth's physical features and human features including locations of places and regions, and political boundaries."
My ancestors hail from Germany, Poland, Lithuania, and Austria on my Mother's side. On my Dad's side however, they are from Germany and Greece. So I'm half German, a quarter Greek, and a quarter Polish, Lithuanian, and Austrian. But if someone asks me I just say I'm German and Greek. It gets kind of annoying when people say like ten different places. I think they should just pick a couple. If you need more then one hand to tell me where you're from, it's too much. My Great Great Great Aunt Marge is from Austria. She's 93 now. Apparently, her ancestors used to bake for the Royal Family. This is probably the reason why I like to bake. It's in my blood. I don't know a lot about my Greek heritage; what what I do know I try to embrace. My Grandpa on my Dad's side died from Lung Cancer when my Dad was in high school. That broke apart my Dad's side of the family. So I haven't met very many of my cousins on that side. This affects me because there is so many things I don't know; so many questions I don't have an answer to. This shaped who I am today because I'm a very curious person. I ask a lot of questions. So we're supposed to be trying this blogging thing out...
