While doing the Immigrant data activity in class what surprised me the most was that most immigrants that came through Ellis Island were from Europe but the that changed after a while. Now immigrants were mostly from South and North America. What surprised me about Angel Island is that mostly Chinese people were coming through Angel Island. I wanted to learn about how many immigrants came per day through Ellis Island. In www.history.com I learned that about 7,000 immigrants came per day through Ellis Island. I also wanted to learn how many Chinese people came through Angel Island. In www.History.com I found that about one million Chinese immigrants came from 1910 and 1940. I really enjoyed learning about this because I didn't even know that Angel Island existed and I only knew a few facts about Ellis Island. I feel that this helped me understand everything better.
Geography means Earth's physical features and human features including locations of places and regions and political boundaries. I think this lense plays a big role in my life because i've traveled and lived in a lot of places. I was born in Melrose Park i here in IL. After that I moved to Jalisco Mexico. I lived there for about 7 years and then I came back to Illinois. I lived in a house in Darien for about 2 years. Then I moved to Woodridge. This impacted me because I had to learn English and go to school here. It was so different from school in Mexico. In Mexico I went to an all girls school. Now I still live in Woodridge so that hasn't changed. Of course I go to visit Mexico every once in a while. I go on airplane but one time I went driving. I drove from Mexico to here. It was the worst! The only thing I liked about driving was that we passed so many states along the way. The one I remember the most is Texas. We stayed in a Motel there. This lense has shaped me the way I am today because I love to travel to Mexico and I love visiting different places.
