I didn't really know about Angel Island, but I had learned a little bit about Ellis Island. In my family history, they come from two totally different places. On my dad's side my grandpa lived in a town called Durango, and my grandma lived in a town called Coahuila in Mexico. My Grandpa drove to California, and then went to Chicago. As compared to my Grandma she just flew to Chicago. On my mom's side they lived in Poland, and then my great-great grandparent came across the Atlantic Ocean, and came to Chicago. They most likely went through Ellis Island, but I don't know.
Since we are studying family history, everyone has many questions to ask. For example, I would like to ask:
Where did you meet mom/dad? - My parents met at their elementary school in the class called the pod. The Pod combined different grades. Was anyone in my family in a war? - Many people on both sides of the family had a great number of people in the marines and army. How did our family come to America? Mom: Great Great Grandparents traveled from Poland to Illinois Dad: Parents drove from Mexico to Illinois Did anyone in the family go to college? -Yes I think it is important to find out our history in our families, because we can learn how we came to be in the family tree. |
