I was surprised when I was learning about Ellis Island. according to and artificial "more than 300,000 people came from all over the world to immigrate in Ellis Island." Those 300,000 people get checked to see if they are qualified to enter the country. According to history.com "40% of all current U.S citizens can trace at least one of their ancestors to Ellis Island" many people where sent back to their home country because they weren't qualified to enter the country.
