The sub culture we have chosen is bronies. Bronies are older men (ages 15-35) who like to watch a little girl's show called My Little Pony ("MLP"). We chose bronies because Jackie used to be a pegasister which is the female version of a bronie. Bronies started in October 2010. Aside from bronies, the show itself is all about respect, friendship, loyalty, sharing, kindness, and faith. A brony today usually likes to cosplay as a MLP, wear MLP merchandise, owns some collectibles and stuffies of MLP. Bronies also post detailed pictures of ponies on deviantArt. More than 500,000 pony artwork has been posted on there since June 2015. It is very sad that bronies get criticized just for doing something that they enjoy doing.
My parents have always taught me that I should try my best to be a good person who is honest and trustworthy. When I joined Boy Scouts in kindergarten I continued to learn about these qualities and practice them. I think it is important to help others whenever you can. There are lots of people in the world and in our community that aren't as lucky as we are so we should be thankful for that and give back.
It is a really good feeling when you do something nice for someone and help them out. In Boy Scouts we collect food for the hungry, collected toys for children at Christmas and went caroling at the seniors home in Woodridge. I think everyone should do something to give back no matter how small our what your economic situation is. There are ways to help out that don't involve money, just a little bit of your time. Where was I born at? Edward Hospital in Naperville,IL
Did any of our relatives serve in the military? Our family has had a lot of people serve in the military. Both my grandpas were in the Army; I had two uncles who served in the Navy and Army; I have a cousin who is serving in the Navy right now. Do we have any relatives living in different countries or states? We have relatives living in California, Alabama, Arkansas. We all live in the United States. Where did our family name come from? Our last name is Bohemian. It is really suppose to be spelled Kovach, but someone in the family changed it to Kovac. In Slovak, Kovac means Blacksmith. Where did you guys grow up? Both my parents grew up in the Downers Grove area. My dad was born in Chicago and my mom was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. What I enjoyed most about learning about Ellis and Angel Island was the different chalk markings they put on people. I would have to liked to know why some of them were important. Like what did they mean by Ft (Feet)? What was wrong with their feet?
It was also very sad to think about what might have happened to the children that were sent back without their parents? Did the parents have a choice to also be sent back? Who took care of the kids once they were sent back? |
