Something that surprised me the most was that more than 12 million immigrants made their first stop in America at the Ellis Island Immigration Station between 1892 and 1954. A question i have is When did the Immigration station close? The last thing i found out was that "Millions of newly arrived immigrants passed through the station during that time–in fact, it has been estimated that close to 40 percent of all current U.S. citizens can trace at least one of their ancestors to Ellis Island."
