Civics is active participation within societies, schools, neighborhoods, classrooms, groups and/or organizations.
Since i was younger i have enjoyed being around people and experiencing new things. When i lived in Naperville, i went to Scott Elementary School and went to the resource center which was an after school program. In the summer we would have summer camp and go on field trips to bowling alleys and skating rinks. This organization made me learn how to communicate with new people and get to know them.
I did cheer leading for 3 years from 6-9 in Naperville for he NYFL (National Youth Football League). My family has a long line of basketball players so i decided to try it at this in house league called the Panthers in Bolingbrook. I turned out to be pretty good. I quit cheer leading and focused on basketball. I have played basketball ever since i was 10 and i am still with Panthers to this day. I also participate in Panthers volleyball and that was also a fun experience. These teams showed me that even though we are all different, we can come together to enjoy something that we all like. It showed me that it was more than being on a team, it was being in a family.
I am a very social person and i think it is because i have participated in so many activities and organizations and i have learned to adjust to different environments and cultures. Civics is a big part of my life and it has helped me and will continue to.
