My mom's father came through ellis island when he wanted to leave Lithuania because america was the land of opportunity and Lithuania was a communist country. This has affected me because he met my grandma, stella and had 5 kids in Chicago. The youngest one my my found my dad as had me and my baby sister rachael
All my life I have grown up in the middle class never worrying about money but still saving every penny. We were never at the point were I couldn't get what I wanted sooner or later. My mom works for a clearing firm the cleared stocks. And my dad was a mechanical engineer the made parts for bowing machine and nuclear parts for machines. My aunt bought a lake house in South Carolina 20 years ago and we have been join there for about 5 years. She rents it out to make extra money.

-Lithuania,English,Scottish,Irish,German. 2. How did our family come to america? -The family on my moms side of the family came though ellis island and so did my dad side of the family. 3. How was our family affected once we got into america. -My mom dad was fluent in 7 different languages so it was easier to communicate with other people. Growing up in america on my mom side of the family there were working class raising 5 daughters. On my dad side of he family they came over from England passing through ellis island. Growing up they were middle class and remind that having 3 boys. 4. What are some of the customs you kept from your home countries? - On both sides of my family they carried over the love for the culture, the food, the language, and traditions that we like to celebrate. We make ornaments out of straw and make Yorkshire. -5. what are the thing you value? -Both sides of my family deeply value education and family. Everyone in my family has a college degree and everyone gets to gather for holidays and celebrates. |
