Being a prep means that of or typical of a student or graduate of an expensive prep school especially with the way they dress. We chose the Preps because their style was ahead of its time and interested us. In the 1900's the first preppy people/students went to preparatory schools which was a prestigious school to help the students to get into good colleges. Lana Turner was ahead of her time with the preppy look. Lana would prefer to Kashmir sweaters, pearls and her high curls , making her the ultimate prep in the 1930's. A modern example is Tommy Hilfiger. He makes preppy clothes for modern day people. Including blazers, jackets, vests and skirts for the modern day prep. So,e famous people known for their preppy style are Zac Efron, Audrey Hepburn, Lana Turner and Tommy Hilfiger and Taylor Swift.
The answer to "Do you have any ancestors who came to America through Ellis Island?" is yes I do. My ancestor Karl Ronn, came to the US on a boat from Hoganas, Sweden. He was about 19 years old when he came to the US on the Carmania to work and send money over to his family in Sweden. He arrived on Ellis island and was examined closely like the other immigrants were and was let into America. He planned to go back after a few years after he made enough money but when he was ready to leave the great depression hit the US and he never made it back to his family in Sweden. During this time he moved to Illinois and got a job there and met his wife Alice. If my great grandpa hadn't come to the US he would have never met my great grandma which means that my grandma and my mom would never have been born and neither would I. He also brought with him some values that have been passed down through the years.
To begin, civics is active participation withing societies, schools, neighborhoods, classrooms, groups, and/or organizations. When I was in 1st grade, I began doing girl scouts, selling cookies and helping out other organizations. In 1st grade I also started play soccer and continued to play until 5th grade. Over the summer after 6th grade I started running more on my own and decided that I would do cross country. That was when I discovered my true passion for running. I also did track in the spring of 2014. Through 7th grade I participated in NJHS where you help around the community for service hours. This year I also did cross country and was able to participate in the sectional race which was a great accomplishment for me. |
