It surprised me that when you had to go through both of the Islands you had to get check for numerous diseases. And they did it with unsterilized equipment. Most of the immigrants said it was painful. Isn't that super dangerous? It was also weird that they had temporary houses on the Island for people. How long could people stay in those houses. Did they have to pay for it? It was really interesting how different races came in through different islands and how once some people came through ellis island they were being discriminated. How did people understand eachother when they came through ellis island? did they have interpreters or directions? Many of my Questions remain unanswered but hopefully I will find out soon.
